Realta Rae- Say What?

So you may be wondering what this blog title actually means.  Unless you're an over-researcher like I am, you haven't taken the time to Google "Realta".

Technically, there should be a ' over the "e" but I have no idea how to do that so whatever, it's staying the way it is.  Realta means "star" in Irish.  Rae is my daughter's middle name.

So I guess this is a good place to start talking (blabbing?) about my daughter.

Caoimhe Rae (Caoimhe is pronounced Keeva-it's Irish, it means beauty and grace and we love it).

She was born 3.5 weeks early, the day after my baby shower-good timing?  Anyway, you would think that I'd be lucky having my baby arrive a bit early right?
36 weeks: the sleepless nights are setting in, I'm huge, I pee 800 times a day, baby is smooshing my lungs and my back feels broken 24 hours a day.  As it turns out; 36 weeks and 5 days makes the baby a preemie which brings up a whole slew of issues I'm not going to get into.  Short story- 2 weeks in and out of the hospital and a very yellow child.  Not exactly how I pictured my first go around as a mom.

Fast forward 16 months and we have a hilarious, stubborn, maniac of a toddler  who is the center of everyone's world.  And she knows it.

Have you ever dealt with a 16 month old?  It's a craziness that I have never expected...seriously with all the books out there about pregnancy and child rearing, you would think there would be a warning manual for new parents who have absolutely no idea what they are doing or how to handle children.  Maybe I will write one and give it out for free.  Community Service.

She just started walking about 3 months ago and now thinks she can run at full speed without falling or tripping on things.  Her favorite activity is running full speed with potentially lethal items in her hands.  For example: pens, straws, daddy's beer cans-to name a few.

She only wants to play with things that do not belong to her and let's face it- we suck at child proofing.
She's turned into a sassy little lady- stubborn like her daddy (ok and her mommy).  She says no and grunts like a monster when she doesn't want to do something or isn't allowed to do something.  She climbs on everything- or she tries to and when she can't make up she says "Up" over and over until someone helps.

She begs for food like a dog.  I am not kidding- like a dog.  "More, more, more?" "Thank you, thank you, thank you..." over and over until she gets a bite.  How can you not give her something when she is saying Thank You?!

I suppose I should have started a different blog post on this topic, but honestly, I could probably write an entire book about months 14-17 in toddlerhood. I'll stop here, but stay tuned for the Warning Manual.

PS- remember that I used the phrase "mish-mash" in my first post.  Also, I'm long winded.
